InstaLock^™: Workstation Security a double-click away!

InstaLock is an application that resides in the System Notification (Tray) Area on your Windows system.  It is automatically started whenever you log into your system.  It allows you to quickly activate the Lock Workstation functionality (on Windows NT/2000/XP) or activate the configured Screen Saver by double-clicking on the icon, or selecting from a context-menu.  The default behavior is selectable via a configuration interface.

This is useful for environments like banks, or any place where you might want to hide the contents of your screen (or lock your workstation), if you have to leave your system for a little while, but a customer/client might still be at your desk. 

InstaLock can help prevent people near your system, or passers-by, from seeing the contents of your screen, or messing around with any running applications.  It is especially useful for people that need to leave their machine often, and would like to keep things private.

System Requirements

InstaLock requires Windows 98/ME, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, SP6 or higher, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows XP Professional.
Note that on Windows 2000 (or higher), using InstaLock to activate a screen saver will NOT automatically lock the Workstation as well, even if the screen saver is configured to require a password!  This behavior is by design, and is documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base under KB Article Q228160.  The article can be found by searching for that KB Article number, or by clicking Here.
